My name is Kelty Forman! I am the owner and head trainer of Scentsible K9. I’m inspired to keep my work focused, personal, and full of love. My goal is to work directly with every client, without outsourcing to other trainers, so I can truly connect with both the dogs and their owners. I believe real training goes beyond commands—it’s about understanding the root of each owner’s unique challenges and traumas, and helping them overcome those to build a strong, lasting bond with their dog. I want to be there for every step of the journey, providing the support and guidance that creates a relationship built on trust, respect, and love. For me, this work is about more than just training—it’s about transformation, both for the dog and for the owner, in a way that can only come from true connection.
My journey began after working countless hours in doggy day cares, groom shops and vet offices. I discovered a love for canine psychology while working towards my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Boise State University. After receiving my degree, I volunteered with the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation in Santa Paula, California. During this, I also started a successful side business dog sitting and dog walking.
Not long after, I took on an internship at Fowler K9 Academy, previously known as Blue Line K9 before I transitioned to a full-time trainer role at Tip Top K9 in Idaho. I then went on to complete a Police K9 handler course and earned a certification as a Narcotics Detection team with my yellow lab, Barley, through the High Desert Police K9 Association. Additionally, I completed the Behavior Shaping E-Collar/Laser course through Paraclete K9 as well as seminars through both The Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers and Method K9. In 2024, I certified as a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator under the American Kennel Club (AKC). I am currently undergoing my instructor certification under the National Association of Canine Scent Work and K9 Nose Work. These experiences and certifications are continuing to provide me with a unique approach to dog training that I bring to every session.
I believe there’s no "one size fits all" approach to dog training. Each dog is unique, with its own set of motivators, and it’s our job as their humans to discover what truly drives them. We don’t get to choose what motivates our dogs, but we do have the responsibility to uncover it. Training should be tailored to each dog’s individual needs, ensuring it’s both fair and engaging, so they stay excited and invested in the process.
I firmly believe that rewards and accountability are essential for achieving lasting results. To communicate effectively with our dogs, trust must be established, and corrections need to be applied when appropriate. As their leaders, it’s our responsibility to guide them toward success. Teaching them right from wrong builds that trust, fostering a deeper, more reliable bond that ensures both the dog’s and the owner’s success
While a trainer can make significant improvements to a dog's behavior, it's crucial for owners to stay committed to maintaining their pet’s training. Dogs don’t have inherent moral principles, and without consistent accountability from their owners, they’re unlikely to follow the rules. The responsibility to uphold training doesn’t end after the session—it’s an ongoing partnership between the owner and the dog.
I guarantee lifetime support to all my clients because I believe that building strong, lasting relationships is at the heart of real training. It’s not just about the sessions; it’s about being there for my clients through every step of their journey, offering guidance, encouragement, and adjustments as needed. I’m dedicated to helping both the dog and the owner thrive, and I want them to feel supported long after the training ends. For me, this is a lifelong commitment to ensuring the bond between them and their dog continues to grow and strengthen.
Each dog is unique and is at a different stage in their training journey. Share more about your dog, and together we can create the perfect training plan for them.
